AidLink Charity

Every year PEI endeavours to support worthwhile charities through its Corporate Social Responsibility team. One of the more recent projects supported was an Irish charity Aidlink (www.aidlink.ie) which for 25 years has been involved in supporting the lives of some of the poorest people in Africa. We were very impressed with their mission, their low-key approach and in particular, the sometimes daunting projects they undertook.

One of Aidlink’s partners in Kenya is the Girl Child Network (GCN) which is working to improve girl’s access to primary education. We set ourselves a target of raising €15,000 to be used to build a Sanitation Unit and full water supply system for an existing school in Kenya. A Ladies Lunch was organised and run by a group of committed PEI employees. The event took place in the Westbury Hotel and was hosted by Mary Kennedy of RTE’s Nationwide.

At PEI we had pledged to match all contributions raised, to demonstrate our full belief and commitment towards this worthy cause. The event was a huge success, raising €15,327.95 on the day, following PEI’s contribution this was doubled to €34,655.90.

Many thanks to all those who supported this worthy cause.
