Clinical Sales - Pain Portfolio

The Role
As a member of our Orthopaedic Team working in the area of Pain Management you will work closely with our business partner to provide support and education.

The Person
The successful candidate will work with The Pain Team to deliver sales growth, building relationships with all business partners and identifying and developing new profitable opportunities. They will engage with our customers to ensure we understand their needs, and collaborate with the PEI Operations Team to ensure the needs of all stakeholders are met. An important part of this role is to provide excellent clinical support to customers.

Reporting to the Directors of Orthopaedics, responsible for sales and clinical support of The Pain portfolio of products.

Basic Requirements:    

  • You will have a relevant Business/Sales and/or Clinical qualification
  • An interest in working and selling in the medical sector essential
  • A willingness to working in a sales and clinical role
  • Capable of working in a theatre environment
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven attention to detail and follow through
  • A Clean, full driving licence

Roles & Responsibilities:

Working within The Pain Management Team your role and responsibilities reflect PEI’s key principals:

Knowledge & Experience

  • To develop and maintain a broad understanding and experience of all aspects of the PEI sales and support process
  • To become competent in high performance sales in line with PEI’s HPSA programme
  • To develop and maintain a   comprehensive and up to date specialist technical knowledge in line with product developments and customer requirements
  • To become trained across a range of products and markets
  • Maintains certification and ensures continued professional development (CPD) requirements are consistently met
  • Keeps abreast of competitor activities and key market developments

Customer Support

  • Responsible for a variety of customers within the market
  • Required to provide appropriate clinical and technical support and advice to ensure customer relationships are maintained and sales targets are achieved
  • Responsible for supporting product that provide solutions to the customers

Relationship Management:

  • Establish in-depth relationships with customers, instantly gaining credibility and trust based on specialist knowledge
  • Recognise formal and informal power structures and be competent in tailoring your approach to successfully influence     the decisions of choices of your customers, recognising that Key Decision Makers are critical in this process
  • Develop relationships with external bodies relevant to our sector or any other organisation that will be pertinent to our business moving forward
  • Proactively shares knowledge and provides assistance and advice to colleagues

Business Development:

  • Own and Drive sales performance metrics as agreed with Directors, including marketing spend
  • Within existing customer base, you will build on first level business development activities to retain business
  • Actively carries out research to identify opportunities to further increase sales e.g. new products
  • Delivers on agreed business development targets for existing business
  • Proactive in sourcing new accounts and new customers
  • Provides input into identifying new opportunities and developing business strategies to secure business development targets
  • Ability to provide input into marketing strategies as impacts the business

Commercial Awareness:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the objectives and priorities of the market and a good working knowledge of other markets/areas
  • Aware of the importance of budgets and stock control and how to apply basic principles to same
  • Where appropriate negotiate contractual terms within the framework of agreed policies and procedures but requiring sign off by Director of Orthopaedic Sales
  • Provide support and input into PEI’s tendering process as required.
