The Role

Reporting to the Cardiac Manager in PEI, the role of the Senior CP will be to manage the Cardiac service in the Ulster Independent Clinic (UIC) on a day to day basis while ensuring that the quality of diagnostic testing is maintained at a very high standard. You will form an integral part of the team at the UIC and will play a key role in maintaining this unique service offering to our patients. Working in a self-directed team, you will provide both accurate technical service and technical support to the cardiac multi-disciplinary team. Equally, and in conjunction with the Cardiac Manager, you will partake in the development of business strategies to ensure the continued success of this business.

Basic Requirements:      

  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Physiology or a Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement or equivalent
  • Be an associate member of Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or equivalent
  • Have at least a minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience in a Cardiac Department
  • BSE Accreditation or equivalent qualification from another country
  • Keen interest in continual learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous experience in a similar Clinic set up is a distinct advantage
  • Relevant experience in Echocardiogram, Exercise Stress Testing, Ambulatory HR Monitoring, Electrocardiography & Blood Pressure Monitoring.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Competent in working with Patient databases / IT systems
  • A flexible attitude and focus on team work
  • Proven attention to detail and follow through
  • Awareness and sensitivity towards patients’ needs

 


Roles & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Cardiac Manager and working with the Cardiac Team, below is an outline of responsibilities:
 

  • Capable of managing your own time and working independently
  • Ability to make decisions regarding allocation of test slots etc.
  • To achieve target number of patients’ procedures per clinic
  • To maximise efficiencies within the service and look for improvements in existing work patterns through KPIs
  • To gain an understanding of the long-term clinic business plans and continue to review and improve practices to ensure attainment of business goals
  • Build flexibility into the working plans so that it can be adapted to meet new and changing requirements
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines in support of ongoing operational requirements and compliance objectives for the UICTo be competent in the performing and interpretation of all diagnostic tests, where appropriate
  • To be accountable for maintaining high standards of diagnostic testing
  • To compile monthly, quarterly and annual data on performance of the clinic
  • To look for alternate opportunities to develop the clinic through Waiting List Initiatives etc.
  • Be responsible for accurate storage and filing of clinical reports in hard-copy or soft-copy
  • To provide support to the consultant Cardiologist
  • To provide support to the UIC administration staff
  • Excellent focus on customer service and must meet all KPI's in this area
  • Understands underlying concerns and can communicate effectively in difficult situations
  • To provide educational support to the patient at the UIC
  • Focus on continued professional development and maintenance of accreditations
  • To assist with training new employees / interns to full competency in range of diagnostic tests
  • Strong commitment to education and training of other AHPs (CPs/SpR etc.)
  • Frequently handles highly sensitive and confidential information
  • To provide continued support and development of the UIC service
  • Responsible for the careful use and cleanliness of cardiac equipment
  • Takes personal responsibility for seeing things through, overcoming obstacles
  • To be aware and promote health and safety within the UIC
  • Any other duties as requested
