IHF announces Active@Work Awards initiative

The Irish Heart Foundation has announced its Active@Work Awards initiative.

The Active@Work Award is designed to support and enable small, medium and large sized companies to promote, develop and sustain physical activity programmes. There are three different levels of achievement for the award: bronze, silver and gold. You can apply for any level but must meet the specific criteria outlined in the Active@Work Award guidelines. All workplaces who sign up for the Award will be offered continued support from the Irish Heart Foundation.

The steps to achieveing the Award are:

  1. Register for the Award with the Irish Heart foundation. Email
  2. Set up an Active@Work team and nominate a workplace champion to co-ordinate the Active@Work programme (see guidelines)
  3. Meet the criteria for the chosen Award (see guidelines)

Keep all documentation, newsletters, ezines, photos, questionnaires, social media clips which showcase your achievements in attaining the Award. When you are ready to send your final report to the Irish Heart Foundation, complete the Active@Work company self-assessment questionnaire and ask employees to complete the Active@Work employee survey.

Active@Work Award Cost:

  • or organisations with 50 employees or less: No charge
  • For organisations with 51-300 employees: €100
  • For organistaions with 301-500 employees: €200
  • For organisations with 500 or more employees: €300

*Companies with multiple sites will incur a fee per site.


This cost covers

  • An active@work co-ordinator guide
  • Assessment of documentation submitted for award and follow up by the Irish Heart Foundation, if necessary
  • Irish Heart Foundation training day on physical activity
  • Framed certificate of award
  • Step challenge cards, literature and posters from the Irish Heart Foundation
  • Award ceremony (2 places for your workplace)
  • Ongoing support and advice from the Irish Heart Foundation
