Inaugural London Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia Symposium

The inaugural London Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia Symposium held in the Royal Society of Medicine, London on 26 September 2011 was a fantastic success with many world leading experts attending and speaking. The focus of the meeting was on ischaemic and non-ischaemic VTs with particular attention towards the understanding of epicardial substrates.

David Wilber, MD, Loyola University Medical Centre, USA delivered an excellent presentation focusing on the 'Mapping and Ablation of Epicardial and Intramyocardial Substrate'.

In the afternoon, Professor Pierre Jais, Bordeaux, dazzled the audience with triggers and substrates of VT storms and unusual VT syndromes.

Finally, Professor Jesus Almendral, Madrid, delved into the unenviable task of substrate modification for unmappable VT. Here he discussed the merits of imaging, contact and non-contact mapping.

Great credit must go to the chairpersons, Magdi M Saba, MD and Professor A John Camm for putting together a diverse and brilliant faculty.  Based on the success of the meeting, there is no doubt the symposium will continue to grow in popularity and become a forum to develop and educate on the challenge of mapping and ablation techniques for ventricular tachyarrhythmias.
