PEI host first ICD Solo Implanter's Workshop

PEI hosted it’s first ICD solo implanters course on Thursday, Feb 20th at its offices in Ballymount, Dublin 12.

This programme offers delegates the opportunity to gain competency leading the implantation of SJM single and dual chamber ICD’s. The focus is primarily on the practical aspects of ICD Implant procedures and troubleshooting sessions using programmer workshops, simulation of DFT tests and analysis of data available on St. Jude Medical Devices.

This is an interactive worshop which empowers staff to develop skills they already use during pacemaker implant and allows both Consultants and technical staff to become more autonomous for the ICD implant procedure.

The programme is intended for Physiologists who are regularly involved with implants and follow-ups, who would like to further understand the function and clinical application of many of the features within St. Jude Medical devices to allow them to lead and support implant of VR and DR ICD’s.

Upon completion each participant has a greater understanding of:

  • St. Jude Medical ICD Algorithms, implant leads/tools and their application at time of implant
  • Develop a systematic approach to implant procedures with St. Jude Medical ICD’s
  • Undertake a log-book of ten supported ICD Implants before sign-off.

The workshop was very well attended and the feedback was very positive, with the group being enthusiastic about continuing the solo implanters programme in full in their respective hospitals.

If you would like more information on this programme please contact your local PEI hospital representative or call PEI at +353 1 419 6900.
