IITOS acknowledge Top Gun & Pass the Torch Events

The Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery (IITOS) have acknowledged the excellent educational events - "Top Gun" and "Pass the Torch" in their most recent issue of Inbox News, both of which were supported by PEI. Both these events took place at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) earlier this year in May.

The Top Gun event was a surgical simulation programme for orthopaedic registrars and ran as part of the current Core Curriculum programme. This event gave each registrar an opportunity to impress both their peers and the extensive facility present with their knowledge and skills. The eventual winner (Top Gun) was Fiachra Rowan, pictured below with Mr Conor Hurson, receiving his prize.

Pass the Torch, followed later the same day. This is an extremely informative evening with a selection of well-known and respected Irish Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons sharing their many years of experience of orthopaedics in Ireland. The consultants for this year's event were Mr. J. Gallagher, Mr. W. Quinlan and Mr. F. Dowling.

This was an ideal opportunity for all Orthopaedic Registrars (and Consultants alike) to learn from the vast repository of experiences in orthopaedics that you won’t learn in medical school - from management of patients to surgical insights to the working environment.

If you would like more information on either of these events please contact your local PEI hospital representative of call PEI at +353 1 419 6900.
