PEI Hosts First Orthopaedic Registrars Dinner Meeting

On Friday, 14th September, PEI hosted the first of a new monthly series of Orthopaedic Registrar Dinner Meetings at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin.

Intimate and informal, the meeting allowed quality discussions and brainstorming sessions to take place between all attendees, indicating the potential that these meetings have in bringing opinion leaders and practitioners in Irish orthopaedics together.

The evening began with a talk from Dr Joe Queally, SPR at Cappagh Hospital, Dublin, who navigated attendees through the DePuy TriLock BPS and reflected on his experiences with the system and other un-cemented systems in clinical practice. He also illustrated the heritage of TriLock BPS and its wide-ranging application.

Dr Queally’s talk provided the perfect introduction to a round table discussion on the use of un-cemented versus cemented hip systems, which followed soon after.

The next meeting will take place in October (date to be confirmed) and will focus on the topic of mobile bearing versus fixed bearing knee systems: surgical application and patient experiences.
