PEI Hosts Second Meeting of Registrars' Education Programme Series

As part of its on-going Orthopaedic Registrars’ Education Programme series, PEI hosted its Discussions on LCS® meeting on Friday, 16th November at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin.

The second in the series, the meeting provided all attendees with a platform to discuss implant options, surgical techniques and non-surgical issues affecting clinicians. Attendees were also able to share experiences and offer support regarding clinical application of the LCS® Mobile-Bearing Knee System.

Mr Niall Hogan (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – St. James’s Hospital, Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital, Sports Surgery Clinic) shared his technical, clinical and personal expertise and experiences in a very informative and open way, which challenged the attendees’ understanding of the concepts of TKR and how these apply in real clinical situations. He also helped them identify gaps in their own knowledge that needed to be addressed.

After the presentation and discussion there was an instrumentation workshop and further talk around the surgical technique.

The next meeting in the series will take place in January 2013.

PEI is committed to the education of registrars and the orthopaedic community in Ireland and continues to host and attend educational events it believes provide benefit to all attendees.
