Registrars' Education Programme February Dinner Meeting

PEI will host the third of its Orthopaedic Registrars' Education Programme dinner meetings on Friday 15th February.  This intimate and informal evening meeting format (19:00 - 22:00) will focus on the Tribology of Hip Prostheses, and will allow quality discussions to take place between all attendees.

With the fixation of total hip arthroplasty prostheses less of the major issue it once was, the focus among orthopaedic surgeons has largely shifted to total hip arthroplasty bearing surfaces, including which head/cup combinations are safest and most durable to use in different patients and any solutions on the horizon that may further improve hip tribology.

The aim of the meeting is to provide all attendees with a platform to discuss implant and bearing options, share experiences, and offer support regarding the Tribology of Hip Prostheses. The guest speaker for the evening is Dr Sophie Williams (PhD), Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds, an expert in this very complex area.

Pre-registration is essential for this meeting as places are extremely limited.
