PEI Boxing Event Raises 21 000 Euro for Barretstown

Those who volunteered to participate in PEI’s white collar boxing event in August helped the company raise €21 000 for Barretstown - significantly surpassing the original goal of €10 000.

As well as enduring a gruelling eight-week training regime, PEI fighters (and staff) helped sell tickets for the event (which took place at the Wright Venue, Swords), with all proceeds going towards meeting the fundraising goal.

The money raised will help fund medical volunteers at Barretstown for a full year, including their expenses.

Barretstown, PEI’s CSR Partner for 2012, is a specially-designed camp at a castle in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains that provides Therapeutic Recreation programmes for children affected by cancer and their families.

The children, from 7 to 17, come from Ireland and across Europe to take part in activities such as canoeing, high ropes, drama and arts and crafts. Through their achievements they regain confidence and self-esteem and their own inner strength.

PEI would like to thank and congratulate all those who helped us raise the money for Barretstown and make the event such a success, including fighters, fundraisers, organisers and attendees.
