PEI Donates to Red Cross Somalia Famine Fund

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative PEI has donated €10,000 to the Irish Red Cross to help those suffering as a result of the drought and famine in Somalia.

The UN has stated that an estimated ten million people in Southern Somalia have been affected by the drought and subsequent famine, with thirty-seven percent of people suffering from acute malnutrition in some areas. Many have been forced into refugee camps.

It is hoped that PEI’s contribution will play a small part in helping those affected.

The Irish Red Cross has confirmed that one hundred percent of PEI’s contribution will go directly to the Somalia fund and no fundraising or administration expenses will be deducted.
