PEI bike-a-thon for Down Syndrome Ireland (Waterford)

PEI was delighted to support the Waterford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland in a massive charity Bike-a-thon earlier this week. The event was organised to support one of PEI's own, Ceire Rochford and her georgous son Fionn.

The objective of the event was to cycle 160K - the distance from PEI to Fionn's home in Waterford and this was simulated in PEI's offices in Ballymount, using two stationary training bikes positioned in the canteen (kindly donated by Terrence McGinnes from TMG Cycles in Skerries).

All PEI employees were asked to cycle a 10K portion of the journey and those that did were sponsored by everyone else.

We would like to thank everyone in PEI for getting involved. Whether you baked a cake, ate a cake or worked up a sweat on one of the bikes - your efforts were very much appreciated! And a very special thanks to Terence of TMG Cycles who kindly lent us the bikes for the day!
The event raised a massive €11,000€5,500 on the day and PEI matched that figure to double the amount donated to DSI in Waterford. These funds will go to much needed programmes and facilities in the Waterford area which Fionn will benefit from.
If you would like to make a donation there is still an online charity page which is accepting donations. Please visit

Thanks for your help!
