PEI seek to break Guinness World Record

To raise awareness of the Focus Ireland charity and to raise much needed funds for the work they do, PEI has decided to host a one off "Guinness World Record Attempt" on May 29th 2011. This was thought to be an original and fun fundraiser, and something everyone could get involved in … and the Guinness World Record Attempt? ... the LARGEST RAIN DANCE in the world.

The rain dance is a ceremonial dance which is performed in order to invoke rain and to ensure the protection of the harvest. This ties in very well with a separate project PEI is carrying out for Focus Ireland, and particularly a project of theirs in Aylward Green, Dublin, where they provide emergency accommodation for families and provide services specifically designed to cater for children. This is the only centre of its kind in Ireland.

As a company we are extremely excited about this project and are actively working with the centre to provide the children with a designated organic vegetable garden (allotment), where they can grow their own vegetables. With this project we aim to inspire the young children to learn about food, diet and nutrition, and provide them with a ‘live’ classroom scenario.

The Guinness World Record attempt will take place on Sunday, May 29th at Carton House, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. We need more than 234 participants to break the record, so come on please help us by participating on the day or by raising money for or sponsoring the event.
