What Is AI-Guided Cardiac Ultrasound?

AI-Guided Cardiac Ultrasound is a safe painless scan of your heart arranged by your GP in a community clinic. Using AI guidance, a registered healthcare professional performs a brief focused scan of your heart.  

The scan provides your GP and Consultant Cardiologist with timely information about the structure and basic function of your heart. This helps them decide the most appropriate next steps in your care.

What happens during our scans

Guiding you through each stage of the scan process. This overview outlines what you can expect during your appointment.

Step 1

The scan is carried out in a primary care or community clinic by a registered healthcare professional.

Step 2

You will be asked to lie on a couch and remove clothing from your upper body. A gown or blanket will be provided for comfort.

Step 3

A small amount of gel is placed on your chest, and a handheld probe is gently moved over the area to create moving images of your heart.

Step 4

The scan is painless and does not use radiation. You may feel slight pressure from the probe as images are taken. You may also be asked to take a deep breath or briefly hold your breath to improve image quality.
