PEI were delighted to host the Inaugural Operating Room Safety Conference June 8th 2024, held at the Midlands Park Hotel.

The meeting addressed topics such as OR Briefing and Debriefing, Human Factors related to Safer Surgery, Hemovigilence, Patient Positioning, and Going Latex Free in the OR.

There was also an opportunity to partake in a poster competition focused on operating room safety initiatives. The winner was chosen by attendees and we would like to once again congratulate the winner - Marinos Filippou (UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic) et al for the poster: “Introduction of nasal and skin decolonisation ... to reduce the rate of Surgical Site Infections due to Staphylococcus Aureus”. Many thanks again to all poster entries. The level of commitment to OR Safety was clearly on display at the meeting and we were blown away by the response.
